Basketball (Boys) – Arielle Mims
Radnor Boys Basketball has been working hard in the gym these past two weeks. After some losses, the team played their first playback game against Penncrest on February 24th. Radnor was giving it their all: Kessy Cox and Elijah Sellers each contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Michael Savadove delivered some rebounding for the team. The team’s hard work was evident by their win of 34-32, which is what secured them a spot in the state tournament. In the second playback game, RBB took on Pottstown on the 28th. The evenly-matched game was electrifying and both teams went into the game with a sense of intensity. Radnor’s team chemistry was displayed, as careful ball movement with some risky touchdown passes was executed. With the teams neck and neck, the game went into double overtime. In the first OT, Radnor held a 3-point lead, until Pottstown scored a three-pointer to push the game into a second OT. A terrific contribution of three free throws from Michael Savadove created a comfortable gap for the Raptors. Savadove closed the game with one final free throw, which made the final score 77-72 (Radnor win). On March 8th, the boys take on PMHS, so make sure to come and support them!
Basketball (Girls) – Kayla Cormier & Audrey Rubenstein
Five days into March, with spring sports having officially begun, Radnor Girls Basketball is still on a roll. After losing a hard-fought battle against Villa Maria in Districts, the girls prepared for their next opponent: Phoenixville. The home game on February 23 marked the D1 Playbacks Round, which meant RGB’s options were to win or go home. After digging themselves into an 11-point deficit, the girls managed to end the first half tied 32-32. The team came out strong in the third quarter, with seniors Kate Gallagher and Blayse Jennings (who was making her long-awaited return to the court) leading the team to a 49-37 advantage to start the fourth quarter. With some help from the Ruckus’s cheers, the girls pulled off an incredible comeback and triumphed 66-57. On Tuesday, February 27, Radnor played a seeding game at Gwynedd Mercy Academy. Nyah Yao and Caroline Monahan scored 10 and 9 points, respectively, to help the girls play an outstanding game. Unfortunately, after a nail-biter fourth quarter, RGB suffered a tough loss (45-42), which now leaves the girls in the sixth-seed for the PIAA state tournament. Sandwiched between the two games, Radnor Girls Basketball celebrated their ongoing season at Overbrook Golf Club. Congratulations to Kate Gallagher, who made this year’s First Team All Central and to Nyah Yao and Blayse Jennings, who both received Honorable Mentions. Radnor’s win over Phoenixville officially advanced the girls to the states tournament, during which they will face Archbishop Wood this Saturday. Best of luck to RGB in continuing their incredible run!

Squash (Boys) – Rhea Howard
The Radnor Boys Squash team ended their season with two wins and two losses at High School Squash Nationals. The team made history this year with the highest Nationals seeding in Radnor High School Squash history at number two in division four. Their first match was on Friday, February 23rd against Westminster Boys Varsity. Radnor lost 5-2 with wins from William Krizek and Arjun Jaswal. Their second match that same day was against New Canaan Boys Varsity. Radnor won 5-2 with wins from William Krizek, Arjun Jaswal, William Meyer, William Curley, and Alex Sareen. In their final match on Sunday, February 25th, Radnor won against the Dexter Southfield School in a close 4-3 victory. William Krizek, Arjun Jaswal, Blake Krizek, and Alex Sareen each won their matches in three games. With the end of nationals came the end of the squash season and for our senior boys, the end of their Radnor High School squash careers. We thank seniors, William Krizek, Arjun Jaswal, William Meyer, Eli Frankel, Will Curley, and Arjun Singh, for their incredible dedication to this team over the years. The Radnor Squash banquet was hosted by the Flick family at the Philadelphia Country Club, where we celebrated another successful season. Congratulations to this year’s Whit Clothier award winners William Krizek and Arjun Jaswal!
Squash (Girls) – Julia Sareen
The girls squash team went out with a bang last weekend at Nationals and qualified for Division 6. Starting off on the wrong foot, the girls played at the Spector center on Friday and lost to Poly Prep 5-2. However, the two wins coming from Rhea Howard (3-0) and Ella Starzyk (3-2) gave the girls some energy for their matches the next day. On Saturday, the girls played at Drexel against Buffalo Sem and swept them with all seven girls winning their match. Both Bella Flick and Mia Richter played intense 5 and 4 game matches, in which they came out on top. With time to spare between their first and second match on Saturday, the girls continued their tradition of going out for boba at nationals. That night, they once again played at Drexel and swept Masterman 6-1 with only one default loss, as the match coincided with the Freshmen Semiformal. Bella Flick’s match went to the fifth game but she fought hard and took the win. The team wrapped up their season with a banquet at the Philadelphia Country Club.
Swimming (Boys) – Jacob Kellerman
Radnor Boys Swimming finished off the season at the District I Championship meet in York, PA. With top swims by junior Timmy Ledbetter in the 50 freestyle and sophomore Alex Yu in the 100 butterfly, the Raptors ended on a high note. Districts was also the finish to both senior captains Colin Mucksavage and Jacob Kellerman’s four-year high school swimming careers. That’s it for the 2023-2024 season of boys swimming—thank you for following along!
Swimming (Girls) – Maly Lindgren
The small but mighty Radnor Girls Swimming District team of Emma Burke, Sophia Mlodzienski, Maly Lindgren, Alice Lake, Maisie Wetzel, Elise Flanagan, and Orlaith Dill had a fantastic showing at the District 1 Championships. Sophomore Alice Lake placed 7th in the 100 backstroke, junior Maly Lindgren touched 8th in the 100 fly, and the 200 Free Relay team of Orlaith Dill, Elise Flanagan, Maly, and Alice got 11th. Fortunately, these swims qualified them for the upcoming PIAA 3A State Championship at Bucknell University. Freshman prodigy Elise Flanagan had a spectacular showing in the 100 fly, dropping over a second from her seed time and placing 4th among freshmen in the District. In addition to swimming fast, the girls enjoyed exploring the town of York, Pennsylvania and making custom hats. The team now looks ahead to the last meet of the season-–the coveted State Championships.
