Hi new drivers! As an extremely experienced driver, I thought it would be beneficial to create a guide for driving in the best parking lot at Radnor High School— Senior Lot— before it closes for the season.
After starting my research for this article, I found out that we only have two months left before Senior Lot shuts down for the year to provide extra parking for maintenance. It will remain closed for an undisclosed period of time, similar to Wedge Lot. As a courtesy, Radnor will be providing bussing from Radnor Financial for any seniors with a parking permit number over 100. Only those under 100 are permitted to park anywhere on campus, both after and during the school day.
In the interim, all Senior Lot rules apply to seniors in both J-lot and financial. Juniors parking in financial, it is your responsibility to avoid all seniors and yield to any senior car, along with abiding all other recommendations in this guide. Any accidents that may occur are your fault, and your insurance will pay out. With all that out of the way, let’s dive into the guide!
Underclassmen, listen up— make sure you’re driving through Senior Lot as often as possible. It’s especially vital to make sure your parents drive through the lot at full speed after dropping you off so they can prove their superiority to the seniors. Also, a note for all, always drive alone. No one you know should ever (ever [ever]) force themselves into your car, wasting your gas money and your time. If one of your so-called friends somehow squeezes into your passenger seat, know that it’s your right to cut ties.
Here are a few more tips for seniors:
- Never look before backing up.
- Never look before parking.
- Never look before driving forward.
- Always get to school before 8 am if you want a spot! If there are no normal spots left, feel free to park in the handicapped spots and even in the grass.
- When you leave during lunch and learn, leave a shopping cart in your space so no one can park there. Or, if you’re not fortunate enough to own a shopping cart, you can leave your least favorite freshman behind instead!
- Always drive the wrong way through parallels. Your friends will thank you.
- Nothing is worse than not having a ride. There’s no shame in guilting your friends into giving you a ride. You should own a car, though. Just buy a car, it’s not that hard.
- Last, but not least, remember that this is your lot. No one else’s!
The most essential part of parking in Senior Lot is to be confident. If you don’t own it, you’re going to get run over. That’s just how it works. Hopefully these tips help and allow you to be safer and more comfortable every day on the Radnor High School campus!
