The time has come to bid our farewells to Radnor’s 2024-25 winter athletics, which have stretched on since their mid-November beginning. Now, with spring peeking around the corner, the Roundup takes Edition #10 to, well, roundup the last of the winter teams’ season finales. Read more below – this is a quick one!

Basketball (Girls) – Ava Preate and Bree Simpson
After winning districts, RGB was fueled up and ready to play on March 8, which marked the start of States. This game was played against Northern York High School at home, in the Raptors’ favor. The match was close until the fourth quarter when the girls took off! By the last couple minutes, Northern York HS was losing hope and resorted to fouling Radnor in order to get the ball back. This was a mistake on their part, because junior Anna Reger, helped seal Radnor’s win with her flawless foul shooting. The Raptors walked away from this intense battle with a victory (45-33)! A couple days later, in the second round of States, the girls played Strath Haven. Despite the Raptor’s previous record of already beating Strath Haven three times this year, the game ended in an unfortunate loss. With three minutes to go, Radnor was leading by ten. However, the game took an unexpected turn for the worse when Strath Haven managed to tie the score and force overtime. Strath Haven pushed ahead during overtime and ended up winning by 9 points. Although the girl’s year has come to an end, this season revealed RGB’s grit and determination. Additionally, as the Raptor’s are a young team, the future is bright for next year! Great season RGB!
Ice Hockey (Boys) – Hayden Goldenberg
And just like that, the 2025 RAHO season comes to an end. The boys left it all on the ice in the Flyers Cup, but fell just short in the first round. Unfortunately, their season ended with a tough 2-1 loss to LM in the rescheduled outdoor game at Spring Mountain. It was a challenging year, but RAHO made a lot of big improvements that they hope to carry into the next season. The boys look to come back stronger than ever, and their sights are set on bringing the Central League Championship back home.
Indoor Track (Boys) – Commerce Fisk
An exceptionally successful indoor track season has come to a close for Radnor Boys Track and Field, but not before several of Radnor’s finest athletes competed at the highest levels in the state, and in the country. At the PTFCA Indoor State Championships at Penn State, school records and medals were on the minds of the boys. Senior Captain Joseph Garzio returned from his foot injury in magnificent fashion, breaking his own Radnor school record with a 4th place run of 1:52.51. Grazio also ran in Radnor’s prolific 4x400m team, alongside sophomores Noah Engstrom and Zeph Yisrael and senior captain Erik Mortensen. With a time of 3:25.22, the boys finished in 11th place and look to continue the relay’s momentum into Outdoor Track. Radnor’s stellar jumper, Senior Captain Owen Lim, also had a fantastic day in State College. Lim dominated in the Long Jump, earning an 8th place medal with a leap of 21-8.5. Lim also performed superbly in the Triple Jump, earning 15th place (42-5.5). Lim and Garzio’s sensational accolades throughout the season earned them both spots at New Balance Nationals in Boston, Massachusetts over the weekend. Both athletes had great showings in their respective events and look to further add to their impressive resumes during the Outdoor season. With the beautiful month of March firmly underway, Radnor Boys Track and Field is excited for the new and exciting season ahead on the sunny tracks of Delaware County, District 1, and Pennsylvania. Go Radnor!
Indoor Track (Girls) – Grace Kimlinger
To wrap RGTF’s winter track season, our 4x800m relay team headed to the PTFCA Indoor State Championships at Penn State University! Runners Katelyn Anderson (So.), Coco Conner (Fr.), Kayla Cormier (Jr.), and Mia Richter (Jr.) blew the competition away, placing 9th after being seeded at 17th. The relay finished in 9:42:09, with a 10 second overall PR. We are so proud of our runners and can’t wait for a fantastic outdoor track season ahead!
Swimming (Boys) – Mohammed Badri
Radnor Boys Swim closed out their season with a bang. The guys brought six swimmers to States, the largest brigade in my time at Radnor. Among them were freshman Will Ledbetter, sophomore Ethan Chang, junior Alex Yu, and seniors Timmy Ledbetter, Luca Jones, and Howard Feng. The boys swam the 200 free and medley relays, and the seniors capped off excellent high school swim careers. Yu also raced the 100 breast and 100 fly, our first swimmer to race individual events at states since his brother two years ago. The team’s future is secure, too, with underclassmen Chang and Ledbetter making appearances at States and smashing expectations this season. Now the boys will take 9 months to attack club swim meets and prepare for another year of killer workouts, nail-biter meets, and dominating the pool.
Swimming (Girls) – Sophie Masicoli
A few of our swimmers made it to States! Over the past two weeks, the girls worked incredibly hard at practice to prepare for this final championship meet. We had many great swims. Junior Alice Lake made the finals in not one, but two events: 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Additionally, both Radnor’s medley relay and 200 free relay made their appearances at States. Overall, it was a productive and successful meet – a strong way to end the postseason. We will miss our graduating seniors, but can’t wait for next year!
