Recently, RHS students and staff took a much-needed and well-deserved week off during Spring Break, during which the UFlorida March Madness victory brought joy – or sadness – to Radnor citizens (and the rest of the country). I know my poor Duke bracket was quaking. Not to fret, though, for despite having a week-long hiatus from school, Radnor’s sports teams wasted no time further settling into their seasons. Our athletes have been working hard and demonstrating their renowned athletic prowess in games and races.

Baseball – Blake Fein and Hayden Goldenberg
The Radnor Varsity Baseball team has come out swinging to start their season. After a big win over Strath Haven, RABA found its rhythm and kept it rolling with back-to-back wins against Harriton and Marple Newtown. Over Spring Break, the boys traveled down to Florida and picked up two more wins behind strong pitching performances from Austin Havertine and Daniel Kellis. Despite the hot start, RABA unfortunately fell to #1 Haverford in a tightly played game, during which the boys struggled to get the bats going. However, in their next game, RABA bounced back with their 6-3 win over Ridley. With about a third of the season in the books, Radnor Baseball looks to keep the momentum going – something they will need as they head into next week’s tough stretch against Springfield, Penncrest, and Lower Merion.
Crew (Boys) – Arnav Sadashiv
Radnor Boys Crew has had intense races every Sunday for the past month in the Manny Flick regatta series, and the results are proof of the hours of work the team has put in. The Varsity 4+ put on a strong performance at the most recent Flick 4, coming first in their heat and fourth out of 21 overall. The boat looks forward to closing the gap of mere seconds between them and the podium at Flick 5. I would also like to highlight our freshman/novice program’s recent showings. At Flick 2, the novice 8+ came third out of six, but this rough result acted simply as fuel to their fire. The boat came back with a new hunger at Flick 3, placing second out of eleven. The following Sunday, the boys returned to come first place against twelve other boats, dominating tough competitors including La Salle, Gonzaga, and Lower Merion. The whole team is carrying the momentum forward as we prepare for the culminating Flick 5 and soon-to-come City Championship regatta with long hours and focused practice on the Schuylkill.
Crew (Girls) – Caroline Croke
Over the past few weeks, Radnor Girls Crew Club has continued to crush their opponents in the Hovart Manny Flick series. During practices, the girls have been working relentlessly on the water to hone in on their skills. Over Spring Break, RGCC competed in two races where the Varsity 4 placed first in their heat both times. The JV 8 has also built up a lot of momentum and consistently displayed mental and physical toughness in neck and neck races. This past weekend, the V8 also proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with – during both practices and races. The freshman/novice boat has improved at a rapid pace throughout the entire season, even though some of the girls have only been racing for a few months. Looking forward, RGCC gears up for City Champs, Stotesbury Regatta and Nationals. The team has been working hard to ensure victory come race time.
Lacrosse (Boys) – Brendan Cox
Over Spring Break, Radnor Lacrosse had their biggest week yet. After coming off two wins against Harriton and Strath Haven, RALA turned to face a tough opponent: Springfield, one of RALA’s biggest rivals in the Central League. The boys were able to secure an unbelievable victory, shifting national eyes onto the squad. RALA managed to prove to the country that they are still a top lacrosse program in the Nation. After the hard earned win against Springfield, Radnor Lacrosse was ranked the second best public school in the nation. Such a successful week would not have been possible without the senior leadership – every senior sacrificed for this important game. We seriously could not have gotten the win without them. Looking forward, Radnor Lacrosse has a big game over the weekend against Georgetown Prep. Hopefully, the boys can get it done down in Maryland this weekend!
Lacrosse (Girls) – Tatum Brown
During Spring Break, Radnor Girls Lacrosse played two huge games against Springfield and Penncrest. Springfield came out on top in the matchup, scoring in the final minute of the game to clinch the 11-10 win. It’s worth noting that Radnor and Springfield were neck and neck for the entire game – even with senior captain Taylor Murphy being face guarded by Springfield. On Thursday night, Penncrest came out for blood against RGLAX at their home field. In fact, earlier that day during their school lunch, Penncrest’s mascot marched around their cafeteria with a sign saying “Radnor Revenge” to encourage their students to cheer on their team. Radnor stepped up, however, and was able to narrowly secure the victory over the Lions (9-8). Penncrest put up a good fight that resulted in both teams having multiple yellow cards and very scrappy play. Spring Break was a wake up call for the entire team, and our captains showed great leadership at practice after our rocky win against Penncrest. They reminded everyone of our goals and the hard-work needed to achieve those goals. The energy and attitude in practice shifted as we prepared for our game against Marple. On Tuesday night, our hard-work and dedication was evident in our team play. We came out with a strong 8-6 win over Marple, executing our game plan and playing together as a team. On April 11, the team will travel down to Maryland to play The Severn School. The next two weeks will be a grind for the girls, who anticipate playing big rivals like Carroll and Garnet Valley. These will be really exciting games to watch, so make sure to come out and cheer on RGLAX!
Softball – Ava Preate
It has been a challenging season for the Radnor Girls Softball team, but the Raptor spirit is alive and stronger than ever. The year started on a high note with a promising win over Penncrest, giving fans a glimpse of the team’s potential – it seemed like Radnor was ready to make a statement. However, things took a tough turn in the following weeks. In a hard-fought game against Strath Haven, the Raptors came out swinging – literally. Sophomore captain Abby Krasowski launched a powerful home run to set the tone early, followed by a clutch triple from talented freshman Joey Wallace. Radnor held the lead through the first few innings, but Strath Haven clawed their way back and ultimately took the game 13–6. It was a frustrating loss, made tougher by the fact that the Raptors played with heart and hustle until the final pitch. The adversity didn’t end there. The girls battled through their next four matchups, facing strong competition from Marple, Harriton, Springfield, and Ridley. Despite their best efforts, the team couldn’t turn the tide and fell in each of those contests. However, this team isn’t one to give up. Behind the scenes, the Raptors have been putting in the work. Practices have become more focused and intense, with new drills, improved conditioning, and a clear emphasis on building team chemistry. The girls are supporting each other on and off the field, and the coaching staff is pushing them to be their best, day in and day out. There is a renewed energy within the team. Today, April 10, the girls are ready to take the field at home against Haverford with a fresh mindset and a hunger for victory. Let’s bring the heat – go RSB!
Tennis (Boys) – Max Spillerman
Radnor Boys Tennis has been on fire. After returning from Spring Break, the boys won 7-0 against Upper Darby, extending their impressive record to 9-1. The Central League’s singles tournament took place over the week of April 1, during which Max Spillerman took home third place. Now, he hopes to advance to States in two weeks. Looking forward, the team takes on North Penn this Monday for an out-of-league play. Later, the boys will take a break and hit the training courts for the remainder of the week.
Track & Field (Boys) – Commerce Fisk
Radnor Boys Track and Field is competing at the highest levels as they approach the apex of the season. On March 22, the boys competed in their first meet at the Upper Darby Relays and picked right up with the dominance of the indoor season. Radnor’s marquee hurdler Mason Shieh showed off early, running a fantastic 42.44 300m Hurdles, earning him seventh place. The 4x200m team (Wayne Fontaine, Noah Engstrom, Erik Mortensen, and Zeph Yisrael) ran a blazing 1:32.94 and placed second. An hour before that feat, the SMR squad (Noah Engstrom, Erik Mortensen, Zeph Yisrael, Joseph Garzio) obliterated the meet record by over 2 seconds with a stunning time of 3:32.93. The following Wednesday, the boys traveled to Ridley High School for the first Central League (CAL) meet of the year. In the 200m dash, sophomores Zeph Yisrael and Noah Engstrom ran very impressive times of 24.17 and 24.19 respectively, earning 4th and 5th in the meet. Senior captain Erik Mortensen was as cool as can be during his blisteringly fast 400m, running 52.40. In the 1600m, senior Maryland Commit Joseph Garzio demonstrated his unreal kick on the final stretch, easily running a 4:35 and earning first place at the meet. Garzio also ran an amazing 10:13.43 in the 3200m, earning him first by 14 seconds. Hurdler phenom Mason Sheih cruised to first place in the 110m hurdles, running 15.70. Junior Jamil Hill debuted in the Triple Jump with an impressive 4th place finish, jumping 38-4.5. Lastly, senior John Anfuso ended the meet with a tremendous javelin performance, throwing 102-6 and finishing 5th. The next Wednesday, the boys found themselves at Lower Merion for the second CAL meet. Garzio returned to his usual spots in first place for both the 1600m and 800m, running phenomenal times of 4:17.35 and 2:04.18 respectively. Zeph Yisrael ran a season PR in the 100m (11.56), earning him 5th. In the long jump, Yisrael also had a great day, jumping 19-10.00. He was joined on the podium by Jamil Hill, who jumped 19-09.50. On Saturday, April 5, the team participated in the Haverford Invitational. Yisrael ran another season PR in the 100m with a time of 11.42. Garzio impressed again in the 1600m, running 4:16.93 in an incredibly stacked field to which he contributed. Sophomore Connor Walsh performed great in the 3200m as well, running a season PR of 10:15.41. The next Tuesday, with much of the team home from Spring Break, Radnor High School hosted its first Varsity Track Meet in over 4 years, and the boys did not disappoint. Radnor’s 4x800m team (Jack Wible, Aidan Landau, Aidan Haas, Owen Bradwell) earned third in the meet with a time of 8:53.36. Engstrom and Yisrael returned with their one-two punch in the 100m, running 11.68 and 11.78, respectively. Despite the strong winds, Erik Mortensen returned to 400m (54.39). Mason Sheih earned the course record in the 110m Hurdles with an electrifying 16 second run. To end the running events, Radnor’s 4x400m team, composed of Noah Engstrom, Joseph Garzio, Erik Mortensen, and Zeph Yisrael put on a show for their central league neighbors, running an unbelievable 3:32.41, finishing first place. Owen Lim made his first huge marks on the 2025 outdoor season, earning first place in long jump with a leap of 20-02.00, and second place in triple jump, leaping 42-04.00. Brandon Ngyuen also set the course record in the Pole Vault, surpassing 11-06.00. Lastly, four Radnor high jumpers (Owen Lim, Jamil Hill, Commerce Fisk, Noah Sellers) all surpassed 5’8”, a promising feat for a promising group of jumpers. The team travels to Coatesville High School on April 12 for the Coatesville Invitational. Go Radnor!
Track & Field (Girls) – Grace Kimlinger
RGTF is sprinting into spring! Even though the warm weather was short-lived, our athletes have been making continuous improvements on the track. After a few weeks of practice, our first meet was on March 26 at Penncrest High School, where there were many amazing showings! Our two 4x800m relay teams placed 4th (Grace Kimlinger, Lakshimi Rajamani, Clara Humphrey, Mia Richter) and 8th (Zoe Vallen, Mariah Ribero, Emelia Selbach, Lillian Nguyen) with times of 10:40:05 and 12:10:91, respectively. Richter and Kimlinger later went on to place 4th and 8th in the individual 800m, preceded by Kayla Cormier’s 1st place finish with a 2:29:29. Humphrey also placed 4th in the 3200m, running a 12:49:95. Freshman Sora McCrea ran a blazing 13.54 in the 100m dash, taking 9th place. In the 1600m, Katelyn Anderson, Emma Hyde, and Coco Conner placed 1st, 3rd, and 4th, with times of 5:18:17, 5:31:89, and 5:32:69. Soon after, Radnor’s 4x100m relay teams clutched 2nd (Pilar Downs, Malachai Erawoc, Jacqueline Dunn, Sora McCrea) and 6th (Audrey Hartman, Naima Walker, Julia Richardson, Kirstyn Acheampong). Later, the 4×400 teams (Cormier, McCrea, Anderson, Conner) and (Hyde, Nora Elliot, Lily Rahill, Erawoc) raced to 4th and 9th place finishes. Meanwhile, Natalie Merriam and Maddy McBride placed 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault, jumping 10-0 and 8-0. A week later, during Spring Break, a smaller group performed at a CAL meet at Strath Haven. Big congrats to Katelyn Anderson, who clutched 1st in the 3200m with a district qualifying time of 11:22:57! Sonia Dougherty followed close behind, finishing 9th with a 13:17:02. Maddy McBride vaulted her way to 5th, with an 8-06 top height. A few days later, a similar group attended the Haverford Invitational on 4/5. Anderson clutched another gold performance, this time in the 1600m with a 5:17:52. Mia Richter earned 10th in the 800m with 2:28:23, followed by Emma Hyde’s 7th place performance (11:27:65) in the 3200m. Once again, Merriam and McBride went 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault! The following week, a larger group of athletes ran, sprinted, jumped and threw at another CAL meet at Harriton High School. There were many fantastic PRs and podium standings, including top performances by Conner, Hyde, Richter, and Anderson’s in the 1600m; and Nora Elliott’s bronze in the 3200m. Keep an eye out for more outstanding performances from RGTF in the coming weeks!
Ultimate Frisbee (Boys) – Ben Rickmond and Kavin Thapar
On March 23, Radnor Boys Ultimate participated in the annual “Hucktastic” tournament hosted by Jefferson University in Oaks. Competition was tough, as RUF faced off against some DIII college ultimate teams, in addition to an adult team. After a tough morning of playing, Radnor was able to secure a win against Arcadia University with solid contributions from all team members. This tournament gave our developing team some much needed experience to prepare for future games in the PHUEL Spring League. Coming up on April 10 is a game against Harriton. Looking further into the future, the boys will face Wissahickon and Lower Merion. RUF is looking forward to the rest of their successful spring season!
Ultimate Frisbee (Girls) – Anrui Xu
On Wednesday, March 26, RGUF took to Loop Field for their first game of the season, facing off against the nationally-ranked (#10) Strath Haven squad. The conditions that evening were harsh; fierce winds and biting cold made throwing and catching extremely difficult for both teams. RGUF and SHUG (Strath Haven Ultimate Girls) battled through long, grueling points. Radnor narrowly lost by a score of 5-6 on universe point, but the game was nevertheless a promising introduction to the world of ultimate for the team’s newest players. Freshman Vijaya Caplan earned a defensive block, while sophomore Lela Liu recorded an assist in her first ever appearance on the field. RGUF also relied on the scoring abilities of its upperclassmen – particularly Olivia Cohen Freue, Annika Dillon, and Rebecca Goldberg. After the match up, the two teams huddled together for humorous cheers and a spirit circle, sharing laughs to build up their friendly rivalry. Radnor has a Thursday game against Garnet Valley, in addition to the Radnor Invitational, Cities, and States to look forward to in the coming months. The team is excited to watch more players have their breakout moments as the season continues!
