Baseball – Blake Fein and Hayden Goldenberg
After putting some finishing touches on their regular season, the boys of Radnor Baseball were crowned Central League Champions for the first time ever. This past Monday, all the seniors were celebrated during a game against Penncrest. Matthew Zaslow picked up his first ever varsity hit, seniors Matt Szychulski and Zach Fein both tallied extra-base hits, and Ryan McWilliams picked up the save in the 4-1 league clinching win. Junior ace Austin Havertine backed Radnor in their Senior Night victory, with a strong 6 2/3 innings, during which he struck out 15. Later, the Raptors improved their overall record to 17-3, including a 15-1 record in the Central League, which left them with a piece of the league title. However, the title doesn’t completely belong to Radnor – Haverford also claims half, because they too finished with a strong 15-1 Central League record (including a win against Radnor earlier this year). Radnor now looks forward to a first-round Districts bye and will host a home game this Tuesday at 3:30, marking the start of RABA’s hunt for their second ever District Championship. Additionally, a win on Tuesday would automatically give Radnor an opportunity at qualifying for States. It’s all on the line on Tuesday in the imminent win-or-go-home matchup, so come out and support the boys!
Crew (Boys) – Arnav Sadashiv
Radnor Boys Crew Club competed in the three biggest regattas of the spring during each of the past few weekends. First up was the Philadelphia City Championships, a fiery conclusion to the five preceding weeks of Flick regattas, and it saw plenty of promising results. The Freshman 8+ (cox Owen Connor, stroke Carter Frank), the Varsity 2x (stroke Gavin Payne, bow Arnav Sadashiv), and the Varsity 4+ (stroke Hugo Rowbotham, Isaac Denham, Matt Tyburski, Sev Thomas, cox Mohammed Badri) all successfully qualified for the intensely competitive top-6 finals of their events.
Moving smoothly into the following weekend, RBCC had the thrilling opportunity to race against top high school crews from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia during the USRowing Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships, held on the very windy and rough Mercer Lake. All the Novice, JV, and Varsity boats put forth their strongest efforts during this merciless 2000-meter race course.
With Mid-Atlantics wrapped up, only one race remained: the prestigious Stotesbury Cup Regatta, held right here on our home turf of the Schuylkill River. The two-day Stotes regatta commenced this past Friday with highly-competitive time trials, during which the Radnor Boys team shined bright: the Freshman 8+, Varsity 2x, and Varsity 4+ all qualified for Saturday’s semi-finals. The V4+ had an especially-notable placement of 15th out of 51, setting them up for a sound shot at finals. This was, however, when tragedy struck. Due to a week of constant rains that preceded the Stotesbury weekend, the Schuylkill’s flow rate and river current reached dangerous levels; regatta officials had no choice but to cancel all of Saturday’s semifinal and final races. Even though Radnor Boys Crew never got a chance to press the advantage, every boat had an excellent day of racing, and every oarsman proved his growth and improvement across the whole spring season.
Crew (Girls) – Caroline Croke
The Radnor Girls Crew Club’s season is coming to a close, as the team looks ahead to the last race of the season, which will take place over Memorial Day Weekend. At City Championships, the freshman 8 placed 4th in both preliminaries and finals, while the lightweight 4 placed 5th in both rounds – just six seconds away from taking 1st. The second varsity 8 placed 5th in finals and the varsity 8 placed 6th. Additionally, this past weekend, the team competed in the Stotesbury Cup Regatta. The freshman 8 placed 13th out of 24 in the time trials. The junior varsity 8 finished 19th out of 32, and the second varsity 4 placed 21st out of 27. A highlight of the weekend came from the varsity 4 (Zara Taylor, Maisie Wetzel, Lexie Kim, Anna Wampole, Grace Carvalho), who placed 10th out of 51, high enough to qualify for semifinals. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, the semifinals and finals were canceled. Now, the entire team is shifting focus to SRAA Nationals, which will take place next weekend. With every boat qualified to race, the girls are training hard and aim to finish the season on a high note.
Lacrosse (Boys) – Brendan Cox
Radnor Boys Lacrosse is entering the 2025 playoffs with a renewed sense of determination and excitement. After securing their fourth consecutive PIAA Class 3A State Championship in 2024, the team is eager to continue their legacy of excellence. Seniors like Sawyer Smith and Tyler Vitale, who were instrumental in the previous victory, are expected to lead the team with their experience and skill. Currently boasting a strong regular-season record, including notable wins against Springfield and La Salle College High School, Radnor is poised to make another deep playoff run. The community’s support and the players’ commitment to building a new team identity each season fuel their drive, as they aim to add another championship to their storied history.
Lacrosse (Girls) – Tatum Brown
Radnor Girls’ Lacrosse recently capped off the 2025 regular season with two huge wins against Haverford High School (20-10) and Cardinal O’Hara (Senior Night, 16-2). In the previous week, the girls went 2-0 as well, beating both Ridley and Conestoga 8-7. Radnor proved they plan to be major competitors in the postseason. Earning a bye in the first round of Districts, the girls were well-rested and prepared for their first playoff game on Thursday, May 15. Radnor came out dominant from the first draw, with sophomore Avery Ertel kicking off the scoring on the Radnor end. The girls put together all four quarters to come out with a 18-3 win. Duke commit and senior captain Taylor Murphy solidified herself as a Radnor lacrosse legend surpassing the program’s most goals scored ever record. Murphy had a whopping seven goals: five in the first half and two in the second. The girls will continue on this year’s quest for a District Championship (followed by a State Championship) by playing Upper Dublin in the third round of Districts. RGLAX needs a win to punch their ticket to states. Radnor is ready for the challenge, and their momentum and grit drives them farther into the playoffs.
Softball – Ava Preate
As the Radnor Girls Softball season comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a year filled with hard work, resilience, and team spirit. From early-season victories to battling through a stretch of tough matchups, the team has shown growth and determination every step of the way. While some key games were unfortunately lost to rainouts, our players continued to show up, support each other, and compete with heart. Now, the girls gear up for the final game of this season – Senior Night against Harriton. It’s a special evening, during which we’ll celebrate our one and only senior, Kinsey Carrigan. Kinsey has been a dedicated leader on and off the field, and we’re incredibly proud of her accomplishments. She’ll be continuing her athletic and academic journey at Grinnell College, where she is committed to play volleyball and study sports psychology. Her passion, leadership, and energy have left a lasting impact on this program. While we’re sad to see the season end, we’re already looking forward to next year with excitement and hope. Thank you to all the players, coaches, and families for your support throughout the season. Go RSB!
Track & Field (Boys) – Commerce Fisk
Although recently, the weather seems undecided as to whether it wants clear skies and sun or clouds and rain, the athletes of Radnor High School Boys Track and Field don’t care. With championship season finally underway, the only concern that faces the team is the desire to work hard and dominate in every meet they face. Before our athletes take on the competitive and renowned scene of the District 1 Championships, it’s important to look back on the many exciting meets the team has competed in that led them here. On April 30, the boys traveled to Penn Wood High School for the Delaware County Championship Prelims. Senior Mason Shieh ran a blistering fast 41.10 300m hurdles, qualifying him for finals. Sophomore Zeph Yisrael also qualified for Delco finals, sprinting to a 11.08 finish in the 100m dash. Captain Erik Mortensen ran 51.01 in the 400m dash – also a qualifying time. Sophomore Noah Engstrom continued his 200m hot streak (22.47), finishing with yet another qualifying time for Radnor. In the boys Triple Jump finals on the same day, Senior George Washington commit Owen Lim jumped a staggering 43-08.75, good for 6th in a stacked field. Over at the pole vault, Brandon Ngyuen achieved a huge PR and a district standard en route to his second place finish (12-06.00). On May 1, the boys were back at Penn Wood for the coveted Delaware County Championship finals. Shieh impressed again in the 300m hurdles, running 38.80 and earning 3rd place overall. Senior Captain Joseph Garzio continued his mid-distance domination, running 4:16.77 in the 1600m, good for second. Junior Jamil Hill performed well in both the high and long jump, finishing with lengths of 5-08.00 and 19-02.00 respectively. Lastly, Radnor’s 4x800m team (Jack Wible, Aidan Haas, Owen Bradwell, Commerce Fisk) ran fantastic splits across the four legs, culminating in a third place finish of 8:19.26. The next week, on Wednesday, May 7, the team traveled to Lower Merion High School for the abidingly contested Central League Championship. Shieh once again added on to his district qualifying streak, coming second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 38.76. Engstrom did not let up his 100m excellence, finishing 5th among a competitive field in 11.15. Junior Jack Wible ran a fantastic PR in the 1600m with a huge kick at the end, finishing in 4:36.15. Maryland commit Garzio ran two individual events at Centrals, finishing the 400m in an absurd 50.05, followed by an easy jog of 800m in 1:57.42, solidifying his league dominance. Yisrael also earned 5th in his sprinting event, running 22.20 in the 200m. Sophomore Connor Walsh earned 8th place in the 3200m (10:09.35). Radnor’s 4x400m team (Yisrael, Engstrom, Mortensen, Garzio) continued their own notable times, running a 3:22.78. Over at the sand pit, Lim asserted his jumping prowess, leaping 45-03.00 in the Triple Jump and 21-01.75 in the Long Jump, earning 3rd and 4th place respectively. With Radnor having firmly elevated its athletes to the highest pedestals in the league and county championships, the many talented runners and jumpers look to take on what many call “the district of doom” in the District 1 Championships. Over the course of Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, several amazing athletes will compete at the highest levels in Eastern Pennsylvania, and they know their presence will be seen. Go Radnor!
Track & Field (Girls) – Grace Kimlinger
Amid AP exams and Keystone testing, RGTF has outshined the competition on the track. Back on May 1 and 2, Radnor athletes competed in Delco Trials and Finals at Upper Darby High School and Penn Wood’s athletic complex. Despite the hot and humid conditions, RGTF saw many PRs and placed 9th as a team. In the 800m, Kayla Cormier battled her way to a silver medal in the trials and a bronze in the finals, running 2:22.33 and 2:21.05. Meanwhile, Natalie Merriam jumped a huge PR in the pole vault, reaching 10-09 and earning a well-deserved gold medal! Following close behind, Maddy McBride placed 2nd with her top vault of 8-06. Later on, Radnor had a fantastic showing in the 3200m, where Katelyn Anderson, Coco Conner, and Emma Hyde placed 4th, 10th and 11th, respectively. The stellar trio ran again in the mile the next day, placing 2nd, 4th and 8th. The next week, a smaller group of athletes raced, jumped and threw in the Central Athletic League Championships. Starting off strong, Malachai Erawoc raced her way to 12th in the 100m, running a 13.43. Erawoc was later a part of the 8th place-winning 4x100m relay, alongside Pilar Downs, Jacqueline Dunn, and Siena Schuerman. In the mile, Anderson and Conner both qualified for districts, finishing 2nd and 4th, followed by Hyde in 8th place. In the 400m, Cormier raced her way to 4th place in a competitive field, nearly breaking 60 with her time of 1:00.85. Grace Kimlinger broke 2:30 for the first time in the 800m, running a 2:28.13, followed by Clara Humphrey’s 2:35.66; the two placed 5th and 12th. Nora Elliot continued her PR streak in the 3200m, running a 12:43.37 to earn her 10th place. Merriam reached the podium once again, placing 3rd with a district-qualifying vault of 10-00, followed by McBride’s 5th place vault of 8-06. To end the week with a bang, RGTF’s sophomores and juniors planned a fun-filled Senior Night for Emma Hyde, Sonia Dougherty, and Maddy McBride, with the help of our wonderful booster club. With lots of food, posters, and balloons, the team had a blast celebrating the graduating class. With Districts coming up, be sure to keep your eye out for more RGTF domination!
Ultimate Frisbee (Boys) – Ben Rickmond and Kavin Thapar
Radnor Ultimate Frisbee has had an eventful end to their season, participating in the cities tournament against nationally ranked teams, such as Wissahickon and LM. Despite missing 2 of their 3 captains, the boys still put up an extremely hard fight, playing a total of 5 games over the course of the weekend. Harrison Westby performed extremely well, scoring several assists and leading the team through several tough games and spots. Senior Benji Lo was also extremely beneficial to the team, scoring 2 points against Wissahickon (the 4th ranked team in the nation), which was an amazing way to end his final season. The team is extremely grateful for his leadership as captain. Radnor Ultimate frisbee will have its last practice on Monday and will attend their banquet on June 2. We will miss our seniors and look forward with a hopeful demeanor to next year’s season.
Ultimate Frisbee (Girls) – Anrui Xu
RGUF recently played in its first two-day tournament of the season, taking on Springfield, Masterman, Pennsbury, Science Leadership Academy, Haverford, and Abington Friends at the City Championships! The team’s collective efforts showed up on both the field and the stat sheet – every two-day player recorded at least one defensive block over the weekend. RGUF also celebrated several freshman rookies’ incredible milestones, including Claire Yuan’s first assist and Vijaya Caplan’s first goal. Captain Olivia Cohen-Freue added momentum to her All-PHUEL campaign, putting forth an astounding statline of seventeen assists and twelve blocks while saving countless plays with fearless layouts and shutting down some of the strongest players in the region. Senior Rebecca Goldberg was unstoppable in the end zone, accounting for six of Radnor’s goals in a 7-4 victory over Abington. The offense was also powered by key contributions from junior Rose Anderson and sophomore Graci Gill. The team is very excited to play in the Pennsylvania State Championships over the Memorial Day weekend, as key players will be returning from injury. States is sure to be an incredible final tournament to close out the season!
