Basketball (Boys) – Arielle Mims
Lately, Radnor Boys Basketball has been dishing out wins left and right. RBB played against Upper Darby on January 11th, and beat them 52-39. Almost everyone on the team had contributions to the score. With the Ruckus filling the stands, RBB took on Lower Merion in a tough home game on the 18th. Great ball movement was seen all throughout the game by Radnor, but unfortunately that was not enough. Lower Merion maintained a lengthy lead over Radnor throughout the second half, resulting in Radnor’s 48-61 loss. RBB could not let the loss get them down, as they were able to beat West Chester East 60-35 a couple of days later; Sawyer Smith contributed 19 points to the scoreboard. On January 23rd, Radnor faced Ridley. The game was neck-and-neck, with Radnor and Ridley battling for the lead throughout the third and fourth quarters. In the end, RBB didn’t back down from the challenge and won 68-62. Two days later, the boys played against Penncrest. It was another close game with Radnor about to end the third quarter tied with Penncrest, but a free throw from Harrison Ceppa put RBB in the lead. Once they got the lead, they did not let go and defeated PHS 43-30. RBB played Harriton on Saturday, and won 62-57. Kessy Cox and Elijah Sellers put up 21 and 15 points, respectively. This now brings Radnor to a 14-3 record, maintaining their place as 2nd in the Central League. Radnor Boys Basketball plays against Marple Newtown HS on Tuesday, and we wish them good luck!
Basketball (Girls) – Kayla Cormier & Audrey Rubenstein
The past few weeks have marked an unstoppable stretch for RGB – the girls have hit a winning streak that began on January 11th, when they beat Upper Darby (43-15). The next day, RGB traveled to Chichester to get another win on their record. After practicing through MLK weekend, the girls headed to Lower Merion on January 18th, where the team worked cohesively to beat Radnor’s biggest rival. Anna Reger led the team with 17 points along with four steals and assists. Blayse Jennings followed closely behind with 15 points, and having this paired with Nyah Yao’s seven steals, RGB was a dominant force.
Due to Friday’s snowfall, RHS campus was closed for the weekend of the 20th, forcing the girls to reschedule their matchup against Downingtown West. That next week, Radnor played a physical game against Ridley. Senior Kate Gallagher hit a career-high of 27 points to help RGB pull a 53-43 victory. As the girls work through midterms, they prepare to play Penncrest and Harriton later this week.
Cheerleading – Trinity Emery
As the cheer team progresses through their winter season, they have a few big dates coming up. On January 26th, the cheerleaders are going to be competing against teams statewide in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Continuing States, the girls have a central league competition on February 3rd against many cheer teams in local areas. Then the group will depart for their national competition on February 8th and compete against teams across the nation on February 10th. Keep your eyes out for updates on the cheer team on radnor cheerleading instagram @radnorcheer.
Color Guard – Sofiia Kuzmenko
After a fun outdoor season and a phenomenal LM Rally performance, the Radnor Color Guard started preparing for their indoor season. For the past two and a half months, they have been diligently preparing a new show. The guard got to finally show it off during its debut this past Sunday on January 21st at an exclusive preview show at Marple Newtown. There, they were also able to see their competition for the following four months. As for the show itself, you’ll have to stay tuned for the team’s first competition on Saturday, January 27th at Springfield for a public reveal.

Here, captain Zoe Margolies placed 1st overall in the 3000 meter run, and Radnor Girls 4 by 800 placed 1st as well! As the week moved on, the girls team went back to Ursinus just as midterms began. On January 24th, the Radnor Girls Track and Field team visited Ursinus College again to participate in the UC High School Invitational. Ice Hockey (Girls) – Samantha Takefman
Since the last roundup, the girls ice hockey team has been practicing and preparing to face Lower Merion on January 26th, which decides the winner of the Girls Varsity American division. Wishing the best for the girls at their biggest game of the season!
Squash (Girls) – Julia Sareen
This past week the girls played at the Spector Center in Philadelphia. The Spector Center is unique because it is home to the US Open and Nationals and is also the largest squash facility near Radnor. The team faced off against Squash Smarts and unfortunately lost 1-7. However, freshman Sae Matsumoto deserves a special shoutout for taking her match to an intense fifth game and winning 3-2! Due to the snow last Friday, the team’s match against GFS was canceled and will be rescheduled (date TBD). The girls look forward to upcoming ladder matches and continued practices post-midterms.
Swimming (Boys) – Jacob Kellerman
Radnor Boys Swimming is wrapping up its dual meet season. Since the last edition, the Raptors handily took down the Penncrest Lions (99-64). Unfortunately, Radnor lost its undefeated streak to Conestoga last week. Seniors will be honored at their last home meet this season against Garnet Valley on Thursday, fittingly during seniors’ final year of midterm exams. Next Monday, the boys face Ridley away, expected to be a competitive meet. After Ridley, practice intensity will begin to taper down as the team prepares for Centrals and Districts in February. Expect more wins and fast times posted by the boys in the coming editions!
Swimming (Girls) – Cailin Kelly
Radnor girls swimming is continuing to come out victorious. On January 11th , Radnor swam against Penncrest and took the win with one point. One week later, Conestoga’s team came to Radnor and was unfortunately able to beat the girls. Thursday the 25th, was RGSWIM’s final home meet against Garnet Valley, which also included senior night. We celebrated our 8 seniors who have made the season as incredible as it was. Monday the 29th will be the final meet against Ridley, so make sure to show your support! We are so proud of everything this team has accomplished this season. Stay tuned for Centrals and Districts!
