Despite spring sports about to begin, our winter athletes are in the thick of playoffs or taking some much needed time off after these past grueling and chaotic months. The forecast keeps getting in the way of outdoor preseason practices, but inside the gym is nice and toasty for our winter sports.
Playoffs are stress filled times, but the best memories are usually made in the final seconds of a high-stakes game. We wish nothing but the utmost success for our winter teams still competing!

Boys Basketball – Grace Kimlinger:
Through a battle of a season, RBB heads towards spring on a higher note! While the team suffered a total of 14 losses, they managed to fight for 3 strong wins in January. On the 10th, RBB defeated West Chester Rustin 52 – 44. A week later, they overcame Council Rock North in a 55-45 battle. To round off January, RBB’s senior night ended with another 52-48 win against Strath Haven. Senior captain, Brendan Cox, made the game winning three-pointer. While the outcome of the season might seem undesirable, the valuable game experience and team chemistry is sure to help RBB in the years to come!
Girls Basketball – Bree Simpson:
RGB is entering playoffs and is ready to bring their all! This past Thursday the girls played Springfield in the first round of Central League playoffs and managed to pull about a victory with the final score being 34-20. On Friday, the girls went on to play Conestoga in the second round of playoffs. Previously the girls had won against Conestoga in a hard fought battle, finishing with 5 points more than Stoga. Sadly, the girls could not pull away a win, but fought hard, going into double overtime with Conestoga. Even though the girls may be out of the Central League playoffs, the team is still looking forward districts and to defend their title from the year prior. Go RGB!
Boys Ice Hockey – Mohammed Badri:
Following some rough going in the middle of the season, RAHO geared up for an action-packed stretch recently. With the student section showing up and showing out at Skatium for contests with Stoga and Haverford (twice), the boys picked up important lessons. Starting with their Stoga matchup, where the boys fell behind 1-0 early, but quickly fired back with a Hayden Goldenberg goal that got the crowd GOING. The team ended up falling short that night, but there was some valuable experience picked up. Then, the team took two more trips to Skatium, each with a pretty packed student section. The second game was senior night, where the boys put up a valiant effort but failed to find the net. It seemed that all was lost, however, after a pivotal Springfield loss on the 10th, RAHO find themselves just a win against LM away from the playoffs. The last time we played the aces, it was an 8-1 win, so expect the CLC hopes to continue for Boys Ice Hockey as they rally to return to former glory.
Girls Ice Hockey – Grace Kimlinger:
With a couple more games under their belt, Radnor Girls Ice Hockey moves into the offseason leaving a strong season behind! The team rounded out the season with a 7-7 effort, placing 4th in the ICSHL American league. Despite two tough losses to WC East and Conestoga, the girls pulled out 2 fabulous wins against Conestoga and Lower Merion, where they won 12-0! Additionally, on January 30, RGIH celebrated their seniors, Sam Mitchell, Maddie Lynn, Harper Church, and Mckenzie Rose. To close out the season, the team will play Lower Merion in the Mainline Cup on February 11. Make sure to come out and watch!
Girls Indoor Track – Grace Kimlinger:
In the past few weeks, RGTF continues a dominant streak with many impressive races! On January 15th, a larger group of runners travelled to Ursinus College to run in the Big Bear Meet. Here, outstanding performances included Kylie Galloway’s 11th place in the 60m, 11th and 13th places in the 1600m by Nora Elliot and Clara Murphy, Nahla Cooper’s 15th place 60m hurdles, among many others. Later that week, a smaller group of athletes attended the Ott Center’s Kristian Marche Memorial Invitational. Radnor’s 4x800m relay, of Coco Conner, Isabel Schall, Kayla Cormier and Katelyn Anderson, ran a blazing 9:50.67, a PA #18 time. Later on, the same group ran in the Distance Medley Relay and earned themselves 13th in the state. Meanwhile, Natalie Merriam won the pole vault with an astounding top height of 10-0. To round out the season for most of RGTF, the Collegeville HS Invitational ended up producing many more stellar performances, like Cormier and Schaal’s 9th and 10th duo in the 200m, later placing 6th and 7th in the 400m. Conner worked her way to 4th place in the 1600m, while Merriam also placed 4th in the pole vault, this time jumping 10-6. For a few more athletes, the Penn Relay Winter Showcase on 1/31 served as a final meet, with a lot more competition but still some stellar performances. While the season now winds to a close, many of our athletes look forward to a fun-filled (and hopefully warmer) outdoor track season!
Girls Squash – Gabriella Eun:
The Radnor Girls Squash team nears the end of the cold winter season with a few challenging matches now behind them. Although they suffered a tough 8-0 loss against both Agnes Irwin and Shipley, the girls put up a great fight with most points having been nail biting rallies. Last week, the girls went up against Germantown Friends. There, MVP, team captain, and number 1 player Ella Starzyk stepped up and delivered a clean win, leaving the score as 7-1. Shoutout to seniors Lizzie Martin, Mia Richter, and Siena Shuerman who were celebrated on senior night a few days after their last match. They will be dearly missed and we wish them the best of luck on their future outside of Radnor High School! Despite their track record, the squash girlies continue to practice hard and keep up the pace for upcoming nationals which will be happening from February 20th-22nd. Make us proud RASQUA!
Girls Swimming – Ava Preate and Sophie Mascioli:
The Radnor Girls Swim Team is making waves this season as they are coming in at the second seed in the Central League, with a record of 7-0! With strong performances all year and many swimmers qualifying for Centrals, the team is ready to shine. Coming up are the Central League Diving Championships on February 11 and the Swimming Championships on February 13–14. We’re excited to see the incredible effort, determination, and talent our swimmers bring to the pool this weekend. Best of luck to all our girls. Go Rad Swim!
